A Message From Ellen Davis

I want to share this exciting news. We are headed to Bo, Sierra Leone in Western Africa this July as part of a mission trip from our church, and we are so excited! As missioners for two weeks, our role will be to support leaders of the Child Reintegration Centre in any way we can be helpful to them. I know they will also have much to teach us. You who know me understand my love for leadership development and team building. Any contribution you can make to offset my trip costs will enable me to then make purchases toward educational materials. In return - I hope to begin and maintain a blog of the entire trip. Before the travel, during the travel, and after. I hope in this way that you too can experience the joy, the surprise, and I am sure, the challenge of this new journey as we give - and receive - seeking to walk more in the footsteps of Jesus. A short backstory: Sierra Leone is one of the least developed countries in the world, where 1 in 6 children will die before their fifth birthday and most of the population lives on less than $2 a day. Many children and families are being lifted out of poverty through the missions of the CRC and Mercy Hospital. HCW’s mission is to provide for the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social needs of children and youth who are victims of neglect, abuse and poverty.
