I have once again been blessed with the opportunity to travel to Sierra Leone, West Africa this upcoming year and want to invite you to join me on this extraordinary experience. In October, I plan to lead a team to Bo, Sierra Leone, where I will be volunteering with Helping Children Worldwide (HCW) at the Child Rescue Centre (CRC) and Mercy Hospital. Sierra Leone is one of the least developed countries in the world, where 1 in 6 children will die before their fifth birthday and most of the population lives on less than $2 a day. There is tremendous need, but many children and families are being lifted out of poverty through the missions of the CRC and Mercy Hospital. HCW’s mission is to provide for the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social needs of children and youth who are victims of neglect, abuse and poverty. The October team will serve on projects which may include planning and conducting Bible School or tutoring classes, construction and infrastructure maintenance work, staff training and development, and medical missions. My goal is to raise $4000. $3000 to cover my flight, room and board while in Sierra Leone and an additional $1000 to cover expenses for completing construction and maintenance projects while there.
