Help us to bring vital voices from the Global South to the forefront of the family separation crisis.

Every day, countless families are torn apart by the devastating impacts of war, death, and poverty. Worldwide, an average of 1 out or 14 will lose one or more parents during their childhood. In sub-saharan Africa, that number is 1 in 12, and in countries like Sierra Leone, that number is 1 out of every 10 children. The crisis of family separation knows no boundaries, but solutions do. At Rising Tides 2024, we aim to bring together thought leaders, advocates, and adults who lived the crisis of separation in their childhood, particularly from the Global South, where the crisis is most acute.

Despite being closest to the problem, voices of professions from the global south are often left out of the conversation about the crisis they face, and never consulted on their ideas about how to best heal family separation where they live. These critical voices are often left unheard due to financial constraints.
